Hi Codex, I noticed that there is a world history book in Amharic at the [http://good-amharic-books.com/onebook.php?bookID=442 good Amharic books] site. I was wondering, maybe since the book was published a long time ago, it's copyright has expired or since its published by the Ethiopian Empire, maybe it is in the public domain. If such is the case, I can start transcribing articles from there which will be a great way to start new articles. What I'm proposing is similar to what the English Wikipedia did with the Encyclopaedia Britannica that was published a long time ago. What do you think? :Wow, that is really cool! That book is a new addition to his library, and I hadn't seen that one before, but now I will have plenty of reading to do! Unfortunately I am no expert on national or international copyright laws, though... It seems to be dated [[1940]], ie 1947/48 እ.ኤ.ኣ. which makes it over 60 years old. It will be a great source, even if we can't transcribe it word for word, which would be time-consuming to transcribe manually anyway. (I have seen a program before that actually could 'look at' a scanned image of writing, and convert any text it found on there into a computer file text format. But I doubt if something like that works with Amharic text!) [[ልዩ:Contributions/70.105.12.58|70.105.12.58]] 23:36, 27 ሜይ 2010 (UTC)
